Schick Hydro Silk Razor Product Review

Hey bunnies! I was lucky enough to get sent one of these awesome razors by Schick, the new Hydro Silk, before it even hits the shelves so you can keep your eyes peeled for it when its available to buy. If you are anything like me and loathe shaving then listen up because you will love this razor! Lets look why!

Shaving is such a long & boring process for me - I have to get in the shower, wait for my skin to adjust to the water, then I can lather up in the creamiest soap I have and then start shaving. I have tried these 'all-in-one' shavers before to try shorten that process but my skin always seems to react to the blades because the built-in moisturiser isn't strong enough and my skin goes red and lumpy and dry and then I get the ingrown hairs a week later and its horrible! I have tried a few different razors with a built-in moisturiser before and there was always still some degree of irritation no matter what.
I was a little sceptical when I got this razor to try because of my past experiences. The new Schick Hydro Silk has water-activated moisturising serum infused with marine extracts in the razor attachment itself surrounding the blades. I have tried razors before that have a similar idea surrounding the blades but it always seems to take until halfway through your shave for the stuff to even work! So I was really impressed when this stuff became all gooey and moisturising instantly so I could start shaving right away. Score one to Shick!

My next test came to the blades themselves. I often find with razors I have to go over the same trouble spots a few times to remove all the hair, particularly my knees (and if I had a dollar for every-time I nicked myself on the knee from shaving I would be a millionaire!) The Schick Hydro Silk has 5 curve sensing blades and a nice oval shaped cartridge which claims to get to those hard to reach places which it certainly does! I only had to go over my knees once and the job was done! And I didn't nick myself thanks to the unique skin guards on the blades which help prevent klutzes like me slicing their legs open!

The last awesome thing I would like to mention is the soft touch handle which  is inspired by the water and looks like a mermaid would use it. Very pretty and looks great hanging up in the little suction cup holder (included in the pack) in my bathroom. This razor is so easy to use. I can now finally take up shaving my legs after a long & tiring 12 hour shift where I practically fall asleep in the shower and create some sort of shaving induced injury! Another score to Schick! Safety first people!

Overall I am really impressed with the new Schick Hydro Silk razor and I will definitely be buying it in the future. My legs felt smooth & moisturised all day and I didnt use any other creams or lotions before, during or after using this razor. I'm a hard girl to please in the disposable razors category so am really happy I got to try this one as I probably wouldn't have looked twice at it in the shops! I rate this razor a 5/5!

Now! Onto the fun part! As part of the new Hydro Silk promotion Schick are going to send out a few samples to my readers who recently put their hands up to be my guinea pigs. Keep an eye out for their reviews coming soon!

Didn't get a chance to be a guinea pig this time round? Stay tuned because I have some wicked competitions coming up and I am going to need more guinea pigs to help me test out some new products very soon! In the meantime, happy hair removal!! ( I dare you to say this to someone you see buying a razor next time you go shopping!)

Bella Box July 2012

Hey everyone! I have been away on holidays so haven't been around lately. Was excited to come home and find my July BellaBox waiting for me though! The focus of this months box is 'Essential Beauty Buys'.Wow, a lot of products to get through this month....

1) Neutrogena Deep Clean Gentle Scrub RRP $9.99 for 125ml Sample size: 15ml

Now this one wasn't on my product info card and I am wondering if it was an added extra? Did anyone else get this? Anyway, I have used Neutrogena before and I do like the brand. The deep clean scrub smells really nice and leaves my skin feeling squeaky clean. I rate this product a 4/5.

2) Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula Night Renewal Cream RRP $12.99 for 75g Sample size: 15g

I am a big supporter of night renewal creams! Being a shift worker my skin sometimes looks very tired & drawn out from being awake all night so adding a night renewal cream to my beauty routine is a must! This one is OK. It has a nice texture and doesn't feel greasy but I didn't really notice much of a difference in my skin. I usually use a much more expensive product so I personally think when it comes to renewal creams you get what you pay for and I probably wouldn't buy this. I rate this product a 2/5.

3) Ulta3 Nail Polish in Mulberry RRP $2 for 13ml Sample size: 13ml Full Sized Product

I have used these polishes before, they sell them for $1 down at my local Coles. For a cheap nail polish they really are awesome! I have used some much more expensive polishes which were really bad quality! I personally don't like to spend a lot of money on nail polishes as I like to have a wide variety of colours so having a massive range of cheap as chips polishes like these is great. The mulberry colour is really cute and these polishes dry very fast as-well. I rate this product a 5/5.

4) Givenchy Pi Neo RRP $80 for 50ml Sample size: 1ml

Something for the boys! This is a really nice men's fragrance! This probably sounds really corny but the first thing I thought of when I tried this was ' this is what Mr. Grey would wear' from the 50 shades of Grey books. Its very nice!

5) Neutrogena Ageless Intensives Deep Wrinkle Eye Cream RRP $29.99 for 14g Sample size: 14g Full Sized Product

As I said before, being a shift worker takes it toll on my skin, and as I get closer to my 30's I am noticing the skin around my eyes is getting worse so using an anti-aging eye cream is very important to me. This one has a great neutral scent and feels very light when applied. The effects aren't expected to really show for about 2 weeks so I cant really comment on whether it works or not- I will let you know in 2 weeks! But based on its application I rate this product a 4/5.

6) You, Me & Everybody Shady Lady Daily Face Milk RRP $9.99 for 75ml Sample size: 75ml Full Sized Product

This is a brand I haven't heard of before. This daily face moisturizer has UVA & UVB broad spectrum SPF 30+ protection. I do a lot of exercising outdoors so sun protection is a must! I really like this product, its non greasy and has no awful sunscreen smell that some products do. This is perfect to keep in my gym bag and slap on before going for a run. And its nice & affordable! I rate this product a 5/5.

7) Almay Get Up & Grow Mascara RRP $19.95 for 6.2ml Sample size: 6.2ml Full Sized Product

I have about a million mascara's so impressing me with a mascara is pretty hard to do! I did really like this one though, the brush is very nice and gave a smooth application with no clumping. I would buy this again. I rate this product a 4/5.

8) Carmex Moisture Plus Ultra Hydrating Lip Balm RRP $8.99 for 2g Sample size: 2g Full Sized Product

I have used this lip balm before (in fact I'm wearing it right now!) and its awesome. Very very hydrating and silky and feels divine. I suffer from cracked lips in Winter and this balm is just perfect! I was really happy to get this as I am about to run out so that's another problem solved! And its very affordable which is another plus. I rate this product a 5/5.

9) Primaria Nourishing Silk Mask (RRP $ 24.95 for 150ml Sample size: 15ml) and Bath of Life Shampoo (RRP $21.95 for 250ml Sample size: 15ml)

I love trying new hair products! I absolutely loved the silk mask- made my hair feel very soft and easy to manage afterwards. The shampoo was very nice as-well. I rate these products a 4/5.

Overall I was very impressed with this months BellaBox! I think the products suited the theme perfectly and there were quite a few full sized products in there which is always a nice bonus. And it all came in a cute little re-usable organza zip bag, perfect for keeping your products together in your handbag. I know some people get a bit angry about receiving 'basic products' or stuff you can buy down at the local grocery store but I think its still nice to go back to these products occasionally to show that beauty can be for all budgets and that you really can find some gems at the local cheap chemist. Well done BellaBox, another happy customer right here!
